We will get to the RBC Heritage Classic that is finishing up today, I just want to talk about golf in general. I know I have said it in the past, but I have to say it again: I love golf. There are so many reasons that I love it. I love the rich history and the way that while it might change in some ways to become more modernized, the game of golf is still a true gentleman’s game.

I also love that, no matter how hard you practice or think about it, you are never ever guaranteed a flawless game. Even the man who was once the best in the world, Tiger Woods, can’t seem to make the game happen for him with all the work that he has been putting into recently.

Alas, I suppose I have rambled on enough about my strange obsession with golf. Let’s talk about the RBC Heritage Classic now.

Last week the coveted green jacket of the Master’s was won by none other than Bubba Watson, and this week there is another jacket on the line in South Carolina at Hilton Head for the RBC Heritage Classic.

The RBC Heritage Classic has come a long way since it was first played in November 1969. Now it is obviously held on a prestigious weekend following up the Master’s. There have been many interesting happenings in this year’s Classic, but I have a video for you to see the recap of the round 3 events from yesterday.

Disc Golf is Amazing

Have you ever wanted to take up a new sport, but didn’t want to spend a fortune on clubs, shoes, golf carts, and other accessories? Not to mention, club fees? Well then, you might be interested in learning more about a sensation that is sweeping the nation: disc golf. Disc golf is only similar to golf in a few obvious ways: there are targets, and there are things aimed at them. Competitors try to get something to a specified place in order to score points. Beyond this, it’s an entirely different game.

If you want to learn more about disc golf, check out this awesome video that explains the game in simple terms. After watching it, you’ll want to start saving money by cancelling that club membership and selling your useless golf clubs; this is all about Frisbees, nets, and wide open spaces. There is an awesome disc golf course down the road from my house next to Broken Arrow Storage. It is awesome, and one of the best courses I’ve ever played. Golf Music

Golf. It’s such a quiet game. Everyone’s so still, so intently focused on that one little ball and where it goes. Some would even say it’s a tad dry, and that if were a beef roast they’d have to toss it out for the neighborhood hounds, but not us. Here, we love golf. And we’re not the only ones. The following PGA golf players are every bit as enthusiastic as are we, and perhaps more so. After all, they’ve gone to a little trouble to throw together an outstanding golf ditty you might find entertaining.

Here you will find Ben Crane, Bubba Watson, Rickie Fowler, and Hunter Mahan, collectively calling themselves The Golf Boys, singing a most rhythmic song called, simply, “Oh, Oh, Oh.” As I sit here in my office in Connecticut overlooking an appealing golf green myself, listening to this music takes the edge off. The Return of PGA Tour Golf

Happy New Year to all of you golf lovers out there! While you might still be nursing yourself after a long night of ringing in 2012, you might also be pretty excited about this Friday coming up. You know, January 6th? If you are not sure what I am talking about, I have to admit I am a bit disappointed. This Friday marks the start of the 2012 season of PGA Tour golf.

I hope you are ready because the pros are going to be competing in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions at the incredible Kapalua Resort in Maui, Hawaii. The course that will be hosting the tournament is the Plantation Course at the resort.

Hopefully your favorite champion will be ready to bring his A-game. If not, he might not fare too well at this course. There will be some great players out there teeing it up. For instance, Keegan Bradley, 2011′s Rookie off the Year is going to be participating along with the Tiger Woods.

But golf is and always will be anyone’s game. It just depends on who has the most focus and drive to get the job done.

Woods Finds A Win

For two years we all watched as golf’s elite player, Tiger Woods fail to win any match after his life and professional career was sent in a downward spiral. He spent those years taking breaks after the car crash and other personal issues, and he would come back saying he felt ready. Only, Tiger wasn’t ready, not yet at least. Golf fans had become quite accustomed to seeing him win, so watching all of those loses seemed strange.

Sunday felt like Tiger has really returned though. On the eighteenth green Tiger’s birdie putt disappeared into the hole for the win over Zach Johnson. His typical victory roar and fist pump was met with cheers from an erupting audience as they all watched him reach his 95th win and first win in two years.

Of all the seventeen golfers Woods competed against in the tournament, he had the lowest world ranking. After his victory though he went from 52nd to 21st on the list. What a way to climb the charts.

If Tiger really is making a so-called comeback, then this would be the first win to start it all off. He had to begin somewhere, and he did it at the Chevron World Challenge.

People who enjoy the game of golf might be shaking their heads at this one, but honestly, Wii Sports Golf is no ordinary console video game. It’s very realistic, and can even help you improve your actual golf swing for when you make it onto a real green. People without the time, money or enthusiasm to go outside and play real golf can get a better than decent experience right in their own homes with their home security team guarding the door.

The Wii controller works extremely well, giving players a feeling of a true golf swing. You can enjoy a full 9 holes of golf. The following footage shows various segments of game play. You will immediately notice that the golf green in Wii Sports Golf is varied and diverse. This means you will be able to enjoy playing again and again without becoming bored. The practice will come in hand too for the next time you play.

US Open Golf Tournament Facts

The U.S. Open golf tournament is among the four golf major tournaments. It is run by the United States Golf Association, one of golf’s two governing bodies — the other being the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. This highly important tournament takes place every year in June,making it the second major on the world golf calender after The Masters. The US Open comes just before the British Open. The tournament has been played each year since 1895.

The U.S. Open bars neither women nor junior players as long as they are professionals, or can meet amateur handicap requirements. As of 2011, though, no female golfer has yet qualified for the U.S. Open. Michelle Wie made it to the second qualifying stage, which is the closest any female golfer has come to entering the US Open, which continues to have an 18-hole playoff if players are tied after four rounds.

North Carolina Golf and History

Pinehurst No. 2 – Pinehurst, NC

Not only was this a course close to Donald Ross’ heart, but it has hosted more golf championships than any other course in America.

Sedgefield Country Club – Greensboro, NC

A symbol of “tradition and culture in the community,” Sedgefield Country Club is home to the PGA Tour’s Wyndham Championship. The event is one of the longest running of the PGA Tour.

Raleigh Country Club – Raleigh, NC

Ross dies in 1948 while working on this last course design for Raleigh Country Club. In finishing the course, the builders stayed true to the Ross standards that were originally intended. Golf greats like Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer have frequented the course, and the first director of golf was Ellis Maples.
